Mission Statement
The Sheridan Intermediate School Media Center promotes student literacy by providing students, teachers, and parents a variety of supportive curriculum based materials that foster a lifetime desire to read, learn, and grow into productive citizens.
About the Library
The Sheridan Intermediate School Library Media Center serves approximately 650 students in 30 classrooms, including Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5, the Alternative Learning Center and Special Needs students. Approximately 60 staff members use the Library Media Center to introduce, support and reinforce concepts taught in the classroom.
Students are encouraged to check out books as needed on a daily basis and the Library Media Specialist teaches skill lessons which introduce, review and reinforce both library skills and internet search concepts. The SIS Library Media Center offers over 10,000 titles and 6 desktop computers which are available for collection searches, research, and Accelerated Reader testing.
Our Library Media Specialist - Mrs. Pam Paty
Mrs. Pam Paty, the Media Specialist/Librarian at the Sheridan Intermediate School Library, has a BSE in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and MSE in Library Media Science from the University of Central Arkansas. Mrs. Paty brings 21 years of both upper and lower elementary classroom experience to the Media Center.
Reading Is Fundamental
Reading is Fundamental is a federally supported program which allows the Sheridan Intermediate Media Center to distribute paperback books to each student in grades 3-5. Various themes are used to promote the three RIF distributions held throughout the school year.
