Students at the Sheridan Intermediate School experienced a lesson on robotic coding led by Bill Shelly, Gifted Education Specialist, from the Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative in Pine Bluff, at the invitation of Sherri DeSoto, SIS Gifted and Talented Facilitator. Shelly explained how to code instructions for Spiro and Ollie, two small robotic devices used in the demonstration. He explained the process in programming these devices to travel distances and then return, plus the specific directions the operator must place in the command code to complete specific tasks. This lesson was a great learning experience for these young students, as more and more jobs require workers with computer programming skills.
