At their third consecutive appearance in the 6A state softball championship, the Sheridan Lady Jackets take home their first state title since 1999. At the championship game, held at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Lady Jackets fought their way to a 6-0 victory over conference-rival Benton.

Raegan Martin, who was named the the game’s most valuable player, pitched a shutout game, and Sheridan’s defense had 0 errors.

“Winning the state title was an awesome way to end a solid year,” said Athletic Director Matt Scarbrough. “I couldn’t be more proud of these athletes and their coaches for all the work they’ve put in this year.”

According to SHS Softball Coach Tamera Strawn, the Lady Jackets ended the year with a 28-6 total record, scoring a total of 196 runs and allowing only 53 all season.
