Approximately 4,300 students attend two primary schools, two elementary schools, one middle school, one ninth grade school, one high school, and one Alternate Learning Center.  All of the schools in Sheridan School District are fully accredited by the Arkansas Department of Education and North Central Association.

The Arkansas Curriculum Standards and No Child Left Behind Legislation provide the frameworks for what is taught at each grade level in all Sheridan Schools.  The Sheridan School District offers a wide range of programs with an emphasis in reading, mathematics, language, science, and history.  In addition to basic programs, students in grades K-5 participate in weekly art, music, library, computer, and physical education programs.  Students in grades 6 – 12 may choose these programs, as well as a wide range of technical offerings, AP classes, and dual enrollment.

The state’s core curriculum defines the minimum essential content to be taught for all students in every class.  These standards are the ideas, concepts, and skills that provide a foundation on which subsequent learning may be built.  We evaluate and revise our curriculum annually and make specific efforts to align the content of our basic instructional programs with the testing requirements of the Arkansas Frameworks.

The curriculum of Sheridan Schools should be taught with respect for differences in learning styles, learning rates, and individual capabilities, without losing sight of common goals.  Although, the core curriculum standards are intended to occupy a major part of the school program, they are not the total curriculum of a grade level or course.

Each child is viewed as a unique person with individual interests and differences.  Both the curriculum and instruction are designed to meet the needs of students.
