Mission Statement

The Sheridan Elementary School Library Media Specialist will work with teachers and students to provide a variety of materials which will support the curriculum of the school and foster lifetime habits of reading, learning, good citizenship and productive use of leisure time.

About the LibraryThe Sheridan Elementary Library Media Center (LMC) serves approximately 600 elementary students in thirty classrooms which include pre-k through grade 2. Approximately 50 staff members use the LMC to introduce, support and reinforce concepts taught in the classroom.

More than 9000 titles are housed in the Sheridan Elementary LMC for student and staff use. The LMC Computer Lab houses twelve student computers that are used for Accelerated Reader testing, library searches and research purposes. A thirty Laptop Mobile Lab and a Chromebook Lab containing thirty computers are available for classroom checkout.Kindergarten, First and Second Grade classes meet in the LMC for skills lessons focusing on the Arkansas Library Media Frameworks adopted by the Arkansas Department of Education and Common Core Standards. The students are also allowed to free-flow on a daily basis as they read and test in the Accelerated Reader program. LMC hours are 7:45 - 3:15, Monday - Friday.
