For Virtual (online) students, all of their announcements, assignments, teacher communications, etc. will happen through this platform. Please see statement below from Nabholz regarding the fire at the Sheridan Middle School construction site this morning. We are grateful for our local first responders and that there were no injuries.
Nabholz Statement: This morning, there was a fire at Sheridan Middle School. Thankfully, this building was in the process of being demolished, so the fire will have no impact on the current construction schedule or overall plan for the campus.
Most importantly, there were no injuries, and there is no risk to the construction workers or public. The fire was quickly contained, and construction activities will continue as planned. Thank you to all the first responders who arrived and helped extinguish the fire!

7th and 8th grade SJHS students competed in the ARESC STEM Competition in Pine Bluff. They competed in 6 projects & placed in 4 of those 6 projects. They also had the chance to compete in a Design Challenge & Escape Room. Our 7th grade team took 1st in the Design Challenge.

Congrats to the 9th grade band. The band received superior ratings for their stage performance and sight reading at the ASBOA event. The band will receive the ASBOA Sweepstakes Award.

Congrats to the SJHS band. They did great at the ASBOA concert assessment in El Dorado.

Congrats to the SJHS Destination Imagination team. They placed 4th overall in the state tournament.

Due to weather conditions, the Junior High choir will not be traveling to Monticello today.

The Regional Science Fair in Monticello today has been postponed. We will let everyone know once it has been rescheduled.

SJHS had a great day at the National History Day Competition. 9 students qualified to compete at state on April 16th.

The Attorney General's office will be in the SJHS cafeteria on Feb 18 @ 5:30 pm for an Internet Safety presentation.

Congratulations to the SJHS band. 37 students were selected to the ASBOA All Region Honor Bands.

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Quiz Bowl team. They placed 2nd in the Quiz Bowl tournament in Pine Bluff.

Wrestling sign-ups are this week for 9th grade students. Any 9th grade boy or
girl who is interested in being on the Wrestling Team needs to sign up at the
office window and pick up an information sheet. Practice will begin on
Monday, November 30th. Practice will be from 3:30 to 5:15 at the old SFA
cafeteria. The East End bus will run at 5:30 daily for those who live in the East
End area and need transportation home after tryouts. Students are reminded to
wear athletic gear and tennis shoes or wrestling shoes if you have them.
Students interested in being on the team are expected to attend practices.

Any 9th grade male student who is interested in trying out for the Yellowjacket Baseball Team needs to see Coach Moore or Coach Pickett THIS WEEK. Tryouts are November 30th thru December 4th, and the coaches need to know THIS WEEK if you plan to try out.

Congratulations to the SJHS Jazz Band. 16 students were selected by audition to the Region 3 All Region Junior High Jazz Band.

Congratulations to the 9th Grade Cheer team. They placed 1st in tumbling, 1st in jumps and won not only the 6A division but won the overall Grand Championship.

Sheridan High School Boys and Girls Soccer Try-outs will be held December 7th thru December 11th from 3:30 – 5:00 at the high school soccer fields. Students must attend every session of try-outs to be considered for the teams. FOR GIRLS: No sign-up is necessary. Just attend try-outs with Coach Johnson. FOR BOYS: You must sign up by November 30th by submitting an e-mail to Coach Lawrence. Please see our 9th grade counselor, Ms. Shelton, for assistance with signing up by e-mail.

National Junior Honor Society will meet Wednesday, November 11th, during DEAR time in Mrs. Ware’s room

8th Grade Students will be taking an APNA Survey during DEAR time on Friday, November 13th.

Students who would like to donate canned goods for SOS or money for the United Way are asked to bring canned goods and money to their 3rd period teacher for Turkey Court which will be held on November 20th.

The deadline for the SJHS PTO fundraiser is Friday, November 13th.

The Creative Writing Club will meet every Tuesday during 8th grade lunchtime in Miss Neal’s room.

8th Grade Quiz Bowl Practice will be every Monday during lunchtime, and 9th Grade Quiz Bowl Practice will be every Monday after school from 3:15 – 3:45. Both meetings will be held in Mrs. Lewis’ room

We will be honoring our Veterans for Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11th. If you have pictures or memorabilia of a veteran to whom you were close and would like to display it or have it placed in a slide show in his/her honor, please bring the picture or memorabilia labeled with YOUR name, the VETERAN’S name, and your 3rd PERIOD TEACHER’S name to either Mrs. Gammel or Mrs. Archer.

Congratulations to the SJHS Choir Members for their performance at All- Region this past weekend. All students who auditioned did a fantastic job and 46 SJHS students will now be representing our school at the SE ArkCDA All-Region on November 7th.
