Volunteer Process for Sheridan School District

Enlisting the support of volunteers is a way the District can expand the scope of resources and knowledge available to enrich the students’ educational experiences, while strengthening the relationship between the school and the community.

Volunteers can perform non-instructional tasks that allow licensed personnel more time to devote to instruction.

Some examples of volunteering may be working with the library media specialist during the campus book fair, serving as a picture day volunteer, accompanying a class of students on a field trip, chaperoning a school dance, and reading to students in a classroom.  There are many opportunities to serve as a volunteer in the Sheridan School District.

If you are interested in volunteering, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Volunteers must complete the attached form and pay for the background check at a cost of $7.  A check or money order made out to Sheridan Schools is preferred.  If a person is paying in cash, it must be the exact amount.

Step 2: A DHS background check can only be completed electronically; the volunteer will be asked to pay $11 by electronic check or credit card. Please use the district email contact of katymiller@sheridanschools.org to ensure the results are sent to the appropriate contact at our central office. The LEA number for the district is 2705. Our address is 400 N. Rock St, Sheridan AR 72150. (870) 942-3135 is the phone number, and (870) 942-2931 is the fax number.

Please use this link to access the background check.

Once the district has received notice that the volunteer is approved they will notify the campus that the volunteer can be added to the list and you will be contacted.
