The Sheridan School District has announced significant improvements in the school letter grades recently released by the Arkansas Department of Education. These grades are reflective of performance during the 2023-24 school year. All schools in the district improved or maintained their standing from the previous year, with several making notable gains.

Last year, every Sheridan campus received a “C” rating for the 2022-23 school year. This year, five of the seven schools earned higher marks:

East End Middle School: A (up from a D in 2021-22)
Sheridan High School: B
Sheridan Middle School: B
Sheridan Intermediate School: B
Sheridan Elementary School: B
East End Intermediate School: C
East End Elementary School: C

“We are extremely proud of the progress our schools continue to make,” said Superintendent Chad Pitts. “This is a testament to the hard work of our teachers and staff, the support of our families, and the commitment of our students. The improvement at East End Middle School is especially inspiring – jumping from a D to an A in just two years is a huge accomplishment.”

The Arkansas Department of Education’s letter grade system provides a clear, accessible look at school performance across multiple areas, including student achievement, academic growth and school quality indicators.

Pitts emphasized that while letter grades are a useful tool, they are just one part of a much larger picture. “We’ll continue to use this data to guide our decisions, celebrate our successes, and identify ways to better support all learners,” he said.
