The Sheridan School District has announced the hiring of Jennifer Almond as Director of Special Education and Jason Binz as Facilities Coordinator for the 2025-26 school year. Both began their new positions during the summer.

“We are excited to welcome Jennifer Almond and Jason Binz to the Sheridan School District,” said Superintendent Chad Pitts. “Mrs. Almond brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven record of supporting both students and teachers through her work in special education and instructional leadership. Mr. Binz not only has a strong background in education, but also valuable hands-on experience in maintenance and facilities management that will help us ensure our schools remain safe, efficient, and well-maintained for students and staff. In the short time they’ve been here, it’s already clear they are both going to be outstanding additions to our district.”

Almond has more than 30 years of experience in education and most recently served as headmaster/principal at Founders Classical Academy in Little Rock. Prior to that, she had experience as both a principal and assistant principal in other school districts.

Almond has extensive experience working with Solution Tree’s Inclusive Practices Project and worked with the Johns Hopkins Co-Teach Project through the Arkansas Department of Education helping special education and general education teachers grow in methodology and skills. Additionally, Almond has approximately 20 years of classroom experience ranging from elementary to secondary levels, teaching a variety of subjects from math and science to English and literacy.

Almond earned her bachelor’s degree from Henderson State University, master’s degree from UA-Little Rock, and multiple specialist degrees from Arkansas State University.

Binz most recently served as Agricultural Education Pathway advisor with the Arkansas Department of Education’s Division of Career and Technical Education, a position he held since 2021. In that role, he also served as Arkansas FFA executive secretary.

Prior to that, he had experience as a classroom teacher and spent 14 years as an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor in the Paris School District. During that time, he taught Ag Power classes that included welding, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, graphic design, and CNC technologies. He also previously worked in a general maintenance position with the Paris School District.

Binz holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business from Arkansas Tech University.
