The Arkansas Department of Education has released school letter grades for the 2024-25 school year, and the Sheridan School District is proud to share that, for the second consecutive year, East End Middle School earned an “A,” while Sheridan Middle School maintained a solid “B.” East End Middle’s rise is especially noteworthy, having improved from a “D” as recently as 2021-22.
“Obviously, we are very proud of the progress our two middle schools continue to make and the results they produce. That’s a testament to the students and staff who put in the hard work to achieve outstanding results,” Sheridan Superintendent Chad Pitts said.
East End Middle School earned an overall score of 554.61 – 127 points higher than the state average of 427.24 for its grade level. Sheridan Middle School scored 479.31, about 52 points above the state average.
Every Sheridan campus scored between 5 and 45 points above the state average in achievement, which measures how students perform on standardized tests. Pitts said some overall grades were lowered by “growth” scores, which track year-to-year student improvement.
Pitts acknowledged that other campuses dropped a letter grade from last year but emphasized that achievement scores remained well above the state average across the district.
“The district will dig deeper into the data and examine ways to improve in all areas, especially in student growth,” Pitts said. “We have set lofty academic goals for our district in our recently approved strategic plan. That doesn’t change – we will put in the necessary work and planning to ensure the Sheridan School District is among the state’s best academically performing districts.”
