College Board has named Sheridan High School to its 2025 AP School Honor Roll based on the performance of the 2025 SHS graduating class. The school earned Silver status overall, up from Bronze the previous year.

“The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that have done outstanding work to welcome more students into AP courses and support them on the path to college success,” said Trevor Packer, senior vice president, AP and Instruction, for College Board. “Research shows students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time. The students who enter four-year colleges with credit from AP accelerate their path to graduation and build confidence for college success. And even for those who don’t earn college credit, AP coursework provides early exposure to college-level work and contributes to a college-going school culture.”

Schools can earn AP School Honor Roll recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to the following three areas:

  1. College Culture: Percent of students in the graduating class who took an AP exam at any point in high school, regardless of score.

  2. College Credit: Percent of students in the graduating class who scored 3+ on any AP exam in high school, thereby earning college credit.

  3. College Optimization: Percent of students in the graduating class who took 5 or more AP exams in high school, where at least one exam was taken in 9th or 10th grade.

To qualify for the 2025 AP School Honor Roll, schools must meet or exceed the criteria for a given recognition level for all three metrics. In 2025, SHS earned Silver status for College Culture and College Credit and Platinum status – the highest level possible – for College Optimization.

Sheridan High School currently offers 20 AP courses and has seen an annual increase in both the number of students taking AP classes as well as the number of students passing those college-level AP exams. In 2025, SHS students took 622 AP exams and had 406 qualifying scores – a new school record. Sheridan had 58 AP Scholars, 14 AP Scholars with Honor, and 23 AP Scholars with Distinction.
