The Arkansas Department of Education has released school letter grades for the 2025-26 school year, and the Sheridan School District earned an overall grade of “B” for the second consecutive year. The district’s overall score increased 28 points, rising from 474 last year to 502 this year.
East End Middle School continued to perform well, earning an “A” for the third consecutive year. Sheridan High School made one of the district’s most significant gains, improving its score 54 points (a 12.3% improvement over last year) and raising its letter grade from a “C” to a “B.” Sheridan Middle School maintained its “B” while increasing its score 35 points.
Scores for the district’s elementary and intermediate campuses are reported by the Department of Education as combined K-5 results. East End K-5 (East End Elementary and East End Intermediate) improved from a “D” to a “C,” with their score increasing 45 points, or 12.3%. Sheridan K-5 (Sheridan Elementary and Sheridan Intermediate) received a “D.”
“We are very pleased to see the progress reflected in our districtwide score, particularly the gains made at Sheridan High School, Sheridan Middle School, East End Elementary School and East End Intermediate School. And of course, we are certainly pleased with the continued outstanding performance at East End Middle School,” Superintendent Chad Pitts said. “These results are a credit to the hard work of our students, teachers, administrators and support staff.”
Pitts said that he is proud of the areas in which the district improved but also recognizes that there is more work to do.
“Most of the schools in our district are moving in the right direction, and that’s very encouraging,” Pitts said. “Our staff will closely examine the data, identify areas where additional support is needed, and continue working toward the ambitious academic goals established in our strategic plan. We remain committed to ensuring that every student – regardless of which school in our district they attend – receives the instruction and support needed to succeed.”
