Today, SIS 6th graders began harvesting the sweet potatoes they planted in May while they were 5th graders.

This is the first crop to be harvested in the new SIS School Garden and Outdoor Classroom.

The students had a blast finding all the sweet potatoes growing underneath all the vines! In 1-2 weeks after the sweet potatoes have cured, our Chartwell's food services manager will help the students prepare their potatoes.

Thank you to the following organizations that are responsible for bringing the garden to SIS: U of A Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service, Master Gardeners, and Grant County Conservation District.
