October is National Principals’ Month, and we’re fortunate to have truly outstanding principals leading our schools in the Sheridan School District. In fact, we think they are some of the VERY BEST!
Our principals do so much each day for our students, staff, families, and schools. Their leadership, dedication, and steady commitment make a difference in our district and in the lives of so many students.
We’re grateful for each of them and all they do. If you see one of our principals this month, be sure to take a moment to thank them for their leadership and service.
Happy National Principals’ Month to our outstanding principals!

Nine Sheridan High School students attended Arkansas Governor’s School at Arkansas Tech University for four weeks during the summer, July 5-August 1. The students were recognized for their achievement at the Sheridan School District Board of Education’s monthly meeting on Monday.
Pictured (left to right) are Kenny DeJarnette, Amy Pfenenger, Carter Lowery, Brianna Rasdon, Kadin McDaniel, Parker Guthrie, and Sheridan School District Acceleration Coordinator Summer Williams. Not pictured are: Lillian Baker, Laynie Linn, and Eavan Gwinn.
According to the Arkansas Tech website, “The Arkansas Governor’s School is a non-credit program that seeks to create a unique experience for a select group of Arkansas’ best students – the potential leaders of the 21st century. Both inside and outside the classrooms, AGS provides highly motivated, creative students with an intellectual atmosphere impossible to sustain in ordinary academic settings.”
Congratulations to these high-performing SHS students!

Bill Remow, an AP history teacher at Sheridan who also serves as a volunteer firefighter, was recognized at Monday night’s meeting of the Board of Education for his work developing a training program for first responders at Sheridan High School. Remow teaches AP European history, AP world history, and AP art history at SHS.
Sheridan Fire Chief Ben Hammond presented Remow a letter of commendation that read, “It is my pleasure to present this letter of commendation to FF Bill Remow. Over the course of 2024 and 2025, FF Remow has developed a training program for first responders at Sheridan High School. FF Remow has spent countless hours teaching and mentoring these students to ensure that they are prepared and equipped to respond to real world emergencies on school grounds. FF Remow has also encouraged the students to volunteer with their local fire departments, laying the groundwork to develop future professional responders. In a society where interest in the fire service, law enforcement, and EMS is dwindling, engaging the youth and fostering interest is the only way that this career field will remain stable. For this, FF Remow has earned this letter of commendation.”

September 11 — A day of remembrance.
Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the first responders, service members and ordinary citizens whose courage shone through in our nation’s darkest hours.
We also remember the unity and compassion that followed — a reminder that even in times of great sorrow, Americans can stand together with strength and resolve.
May we continue to honor their memory through gratitude, service and kindness.
We will never forget.

Thank you to Sanders Ace Hardware in East End for being a continued supporter of our Sheridan's alternative learning program. Over the past couple of years Mr. Ronnie Garner has donated over $500 worth of tools and lumber for the enrichment program.
Today's Lady Jacket volleyball games vs. Maumelle have been cancelled. (Maumelle is without power today.) The games will be rescheduled at a later date.
GREAT NEWS! Sheridan students will have FREE ADMISSION to all home athletic events throughout the 2026-27 school year! All home games. All sports. All year.
(Students in grades 6-12 must show their student ID for free entry. Students in grades K-5 must be accompanied by an adult who can confirm they are Sheridan students.)
Much appreciation to Treaty Oak Clean Energy for their sponsorship that makes free student admission throughout the year possible!

The Sheridan School District continues to experience internet and phone outages for the third consecutive day. Our provider is working on the issue and hopes to have it resolved soon. We apologize for any inconvenience anyone may experience in reaching us.
Track access at Yellowjacket Stadium will be unavailable to the public Monday, August 24 through Friday, August 28 in preparation for the Sheridan-White Hall football game on Friday. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Sheridan Middle School ONLY will be closed to students today due to a loss of power in parts of the building following last night’s storm.
Staff will still report to work as scheduled, as older parts of the building still have power and the remainder should have power later today.
Power had been restored to the entire building but went out again moments ago. More information will be provided later today as we assess the situation.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
