The Sheridan JROTC competed on Saturday in the Malvern Drill and Raider Competition against 14 schools from all over Arkansas. The JROTC COED Color Guard, consisting of Katie Reynolds, Anthony Bates, Hector Aguilar,and Victoria Smith, took first place. The JROTC Female Raider team, consisting of Aubre Frank, Grace Knighten, Fallyn Mangrum, Haidyn Long and Kylie Fennessy, took third place.


The Sheridan varsity cheerleaders competed last weekend in the NCA High School Nationals competition in Dallas. They scored a 92.55 and secured fourth place in the Advanced Performance Crowd Leading-Small division and received the Superior Showmanship Award. These ladies had two outstanding performances to end a great year! Congratulations!
The Internet Safety Night at SHS that was postponed last week has been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in the SHS Library (not the cafeteria as originally planned). Hope to see you there!

The Lady Jacket varsity girls' basketball game at Pine Bluff, originally scheduled for Friday, Jan. 26, will be rescheduled for a date to be determined. The JV game tomorrow at Pine Bluff will still tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity boys' game at about 6 p.m.

Join us for Internet Safety Night on Thursday at East End Middle School. The event starts at 6 p.m.

Sheridan athletes who have committed to play in college will participate in a National Signing Day ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 7. They will sign in Yellowjacket Arena beginning at 10 a.m. The public is invited to this exciting event. It will also be live-streamed on the YJ Network.

Congratulations to Sheridan junior guard Noah Romine, who was voted by fans as SBLive’s Arkansas High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 8-14! Romine totaled 23,238 votes (37.5% of all votes cast).
Recapping his stats for the week, SBLive noted, "The 5-foot-8 Romine scored 15 points with 8 assists in a 59-52 loss to Hot Springs Lakeside. Romine scored 32 points in a 66-45 victory over White Hall. The 32 points is a career high."

The Internet Safety Night presentation, originally scheduled for tonight at SHS, has been postponed due to weather conditions. A rescheduled date for the event has not yet been determined. Notifications will be sent out once a new date has been established.

Out of an abundance of caution and with the most significant impact of hazardous winter precipitation being between 6-10 a.m. today, the Sheridan School District will be closed today.

At this time, the Sheridan School District plans to be open and school in session tomorrow. However, with predictions of possible winter precipitation tomorrow morning, the district will not make a final decision until after 5 a.m. Parents should have an alternate plan for their students in case the district must make a last-minute decision to close or delay school based on the morning weather conditions.
