January 1-Arkansas Chamber Singers Vocal/Choral Scholarship Program: This scholarship will be awarded to two Arkansas high school seniors planning on majoring in voice or music, who have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and have participated in their high school choir program. Applications are due January 1, but auditions will be held on January 24th. January 8- American Legion Oratorical Contest: The purpose of this contest is to develop knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution. Other objectives of the contest will include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to speak clearly, intelligently, and acceptance of the responsibilities as well as the privileges of American citizenship. The Dept. contest will take place on February 27th, however applications must be submitted by January 8th. Applications can be picked up in the counseling center. 


March 12-American Legion Coudret Trust and Garner Trust Scholarships: The American Legion, Dept. of AR, is offering eight scholarships. Four are from the Coudret Trust Foundation in the amount of $1,000 and four are from the Garner Trust Foundation in the amount of $2,500. Applicants must be children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren of American Legionnaires in good standing of two or more consecutive years' membership. Step children of living Legionnaires may apply. For all eligibility requirements, pick up an application in the counseling center!
