Congratulations to Egan Gunter, a junior at Sheridan High School, for being accepted into the 2022 Arkansas Governor’s School program! Gunter chose Social Sciences as his area of focus for AGS because it aligns with his future plans of working in public service. To be accepted, he completed a lengthy application process that concluded with getting recommendations from his teachers. His English teacher, Kara Washington, had this to say about Gunter: “He is an excellent candidate for AGS. He loves discussions and delving into topics, works well with others, and is incredibly bright and insightful.” JROTC instructor, Colonel Clark Easter, believes that Gunter has the “skills that are critical in taking our society in a positive direction.”
Gunter will represent Sheridan at AGS, which is a four-week summer residential program held at Arkansas Tech University for rising Arkansas high school seniors. The program is funded by the Arkansas State Legislature as a portion of the gifted and talented programs through the State Department of Education. Students who are interested in attending AGS the summer after their junior year should contact Summer Williams (GT/AP Coordinator) at summerwilliams@sheridanschools.org.
