East End Middle School Teacher Olivia Lewis was elected president of the Arkansas Council for the Social Studies during the organization’s state conference this week. We are proud of Olivia and the work she does to promote, improve, and advocate for social studies education in Arkansas!

SHS parking tags ($10) for the 2019-20 school year are for sale now in the SHS office. Students will need a valid drivers license and current registration for the vehicle they will be driving.

Please see statement below from Nabholz regarding the fire at the Sheridan Middle School construction site this morning. We are grateful for our local first responders and that there were no injuries.
Nabholz Statement: This morning, there was a fire at Sheridan Middle School. Thankfully, this building was in the process of being demolished, so the fire will have no impact on the current construction schedule or overall plan for the campus.
Most importantly, there were no injuries, and there is no risk to the construction workers or public. The fire was quickly contained, and construction activities will continue as planned. Thank you to all the first responders who arrived and helped extinguish the fire!
Our new CNC machine arrived today at the high school! The CNC machine will be used in our Kohler Academy, which will prepare students for careers in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering.

SHS seniors are seeing the new cafeteria for the first time. We worked really hard to get the cafeteria ready in time so the seniors could have their senior breakfast here. There are still a few details to be done, but we are almost there!

Three 7th grade students from SJHS have earned state recognition for their scores on the ACT that they took in February as part of the Duke University Talent Search. They were invited to an awards luncheon and academic program at UALR this month.

We are preparing students for a future in education! Our Teacher Cadet students spent this semester shadowing teachers throughout the district and also preparing/teaching lessons to younger students. We hope they will return to #YJNation after their college education!
