Sheridan Elementary School is pleased to announce that 22 second grade students achieved their “Off the Shelf” reading goals for the third nine weeks grading period. The district’s “Off the Shelf” program is an optional reading incentive program for grades 2 – 12 designed to motivate, encourage and reward students for reading a variety of books.

According to Dottie Goode, SES library media specialist, students do not receive a grade for participating, but they do receive prizes based on their level of participation.

Prizes for goal completion include “Off the Shelf” t-shirts, bookmarks and pencils. Star Reader buttons, books, and a variety of other rewards also are available. Additionally, achievers will be included in a drawing to win a Kindle at a Sundae Party that will take place at the end of the year.
