Sheridan's Alternative Learning Academy hosted a "Breakfast at the Academy" event this morning that included an opportunity for some local business and community leaders along with elected officials to visit with several students at the campus and share a morning meal. The visitors also were able to see many of the crafts created by the students that were recently for sale at Timberfest.
Principal Dennis Wolfe concluded the breakfast by presenting a plaque to Jonathan and Bridget Rhodes for their hard work on a recent collaborative project to replace all the old playground equipment at ALA with new equipment. #YJNation #ChooseJoy

The Sheridan School District held a playground dedication ceremony today at the District’s Alternative Learning Academy campus. The new playground equipment is a result of a combined effort of the Sheridan School District, City of Sheridan, and multiple private businesses, organizations and individuals. Funding for the new equipment was through a grant jointly received by the school district and the city, as well as private donations. Now complete, the playground is available for use by the District’s students and is also available for families in the community throughout the year when school is not in session.
Local businesses and individuals who contributed to the project include: Nucor, which donated $10,000 and their employees contributed time for the demolition of old equipment and installation of the new equipment; Josh Kimbrell of Kimbrell Construction who donated time and equipment for the demolition; Jonathan Rhodes of J.R.’s Custom Steel Works who donated time and equipment for the demolition and installation; Mike Biggs who donated his time for demo and installation; Stockton Power Equipment, which donated equipment for demo and installation; Rowland-Stone Services, which donated equipment for the demolition; Mitchell’s Hot Hen Farms, which donated equipment for the demo and installation; Sheridan Masonic Lodge #260, which helped to raise money for the playground; Ace Hardware, which donated bags of concrete for the installation; Tractor Supply, which donated bags of concrete for the installation; Shelby Taylor Trucking donated funds for equipment; and the Grant County Chamber of Commerce has provided support throughout the year as the project progressed.

Sheridan High School's Juliet Taylor (College & Career Coach) and Amanda Coleman (Registrar) took a small group of students to Henderson State University for a private tour.
During the tour, they had the special opportunity to be guided by two former Sheridan High School students, Zoe Mayberry and Hillary Wilson, who are currently attending Henderson State. They provided great insights into the campus life and shared their experiences as former Sheridan students now pursuing their studies there.

Sheridan School District Superintendent Chad Pitts and school board member Jacob Palmer were among the participants who volunteered to be "dunked" during Timberfest this weekend. The dunking booth was a fundraiser for the Grant County Young Professionals Network, a recently formed, local organization operating under the Grant County Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Wolfe’s campus is doing great things. In September alone, the campus received a $500 donation from Masonic Lodge #260, honored Students of the Month, and celebrated National School Janitor's Day with Ms. Brittany. #YJNation #ChooseJoy
