Today the school board recognized SHS AP teachers Susan Coles and Chris Jones (not pictured).
Mrs. Coles had the highest number of students who received 3s and 4s on the AP exams last Spring.
Mr. Jones’ students had a 100% pass rate for the third consecutive year.
Congratulations to these amazing educators and thank you for all you do!
Today the school board recognized Kaleigh Coker, a Class of 2020 graduate who earned the National AP Scholar award, the highest level of recognition given by the College Board.
This award is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken during a student’s high school career, as well as score a 4 or higher on at least eight exams.
Kaleigh plans to attend Hendrix College this fall as a prospective biochemistry and molecular biology major.
When asked about her experience in SHS AP courses, Kaleigh said, “Without the enjoyable challenge of Sheridan's AP courses, my high school experience would not have been nearly as fulfilling and insightful. My teachers are the reason I'm on the path to my passion.”

Due to current social distancing guidelines, we will not be hosting onsite Open House events this year, EXCEPT for Kindergarten. Parents of kindergarteners will receive a letter or phone call this week with their specific appointment times and detailed instructions for the Open House. FOR ALL OTHER GRADES, we will send you information about your child’s class assignment/class schedule during the week of Aug. 17. We are also planning virtual Open House events to welcome our onsite and online students back to school!

Congratulations to Eryn Rowell and Jenna Barnes. They are the recipients of this year's Sheridan Band Booster Scholarships. They will each receive $500 towards their college education. Eryn plans to go to UCA and Jenna plans to go to OBU.

SSD Families: Gov. Hutchinson announced in a press conference yesterday afternoon that districts will now begin school the week of Aug. 24 (but no later than the Aug. 26). We are currently working on a revised 2020-2021 school calendar to accommodate this change. We will update you as soon as our district approves a new start date and school calendar.
Our Reopening Schools Task Force met today to plan for the upcoming school year. We will continue to provide updates over the summer about what to expect in the fall.
