Sheridan's eighth grade girls' basketball team will play in the River City Conference championship game tomorrow against the Robinson Junior High Senators. The game will start at 4:30 p.m. at Little Rock Christian's Warrior Arena. Go Lady Jackets! Win conference!

Good luck to the Sheridan 8th grade girls tonight as they play Watson Chapel in the semifinals of the River City Conference basketball tournament. The game tips off at 4:30 p.m. at Little Rock Christian. Go Lady Jackets!


Sheridan's eighth grade girls and boys and ninth grade girls will be playing in the River City Junior High Conference Tournament on Saturday at Little Rock Christian. Winning teams will advance to games on Monday with the finals scheduled for Thursday. Sheridan's eighth grade girls will play at 11:30 a.m., the eighth grade boys play at 2:00 p.m., and the ninth grade girls play at 3:15 p.m. (All times are approximate.) The ticket price at the gate is $7 cash or $8 credit card. Go Jackets!


A total of 24 students in grades 3-8 competed in the 2025 Grant County Spelling Bee this morning at Sheridan High School's McKenzie Hall. Alice Gifford, a 6th grader at Sheridan Middle School, earned third place. George Lachowsky, an 8th grader at East End Middle School, earned second place. Oliver Graham, a 6th grader at East End Middle School, earned first place and will represent Grant County at the Arkansas State Spelling Bee in March. Congratulations to all our students who made it to the county bee!

Christy Daniels, a counselor at Sheridan Middle School and SSD's Alternative Learning Academy, was recently named the Arkansas School Counselor Association Southwest Region Middle School Counselor of the Year. She was nominated by her fellow counselor, Vicki Strong. Mrs. Daniels will now go on to compete at the state level. The state level winners will be announced this summer at the Arkansas School Counselor Association summer conference. Allyson Pitts, director of school counseling and Jacket Health & Wellness, ALA Principal Dennis Wolfe, and SMS Principal Deborah Mooney presented Mrs. Daniels with a Difference Maker award during Monday night's school board meeting. #YJNation

There will be a mandatory meeting on Feb. 20 for all students currently in 6th-11th grade who are interested in trying out for dance. From now through February 14, donate your gently used or new joggers and hoodies to help students in need. Collection boxes are located at: East End Middle School, Sheridan Middle School, Peoples Bank in Sheridan, and Peoples Bank in East End. Your generosity is appreciated!


Sheridan High School hosted an Elective Fair yesterday for upcoming freshmen from Sheridan Middle School and East End Middle School as well students who are already attending 9th -11th grade. Students who are a part of different elective classes at SHS created informational flyers and posters to help connect with new students in hopes to attract more applicants for these electives. Sheridan High School was proud to host a meeting last week of the Arkansas Council for Military Children. The Council is chaired by Colonel (Ret) John Kaminar, the Military Family Engagement Advisor for the Arkansas Department of Education.
