Sheridan’s Cross Country Team competed in the Josh Park Memorial, taking on a challenging course of dust, gravel, hills, and varying terrain. Four Yellowjackets earned medals with outstanding finishes: Jaxson Andrews placed 20th (19:58), Isaac Chapin placed 21st (20:00), Payton Miller placed 12th (23:19), and freshman Jaci Glaze placed 16th (23:43).

Twelve SHS students and Mr. Bill Remow spent their day off from school learning firsthand about emergency services in Sheridan and Grant County!
Students toured the Sheridan Fire Department, Grant County Rescue, Office of Emergency Management (911 Dispatch), and MEMS station, gaining hands-on experience and learning about the important work these professionals do each day.
At the Sheridan Fire Department, Firefighter Captain Patrick Jones gave students a tour of the station and fire trucks. Students got hands-on experience with tools and extrication equipment and even had the opportunity to flow water through a fire hose.
At Grant County Rescue, Coordinator Scott Hollinger introduced students to the many types of operations conducted by GCR and provided a tour of the station.
At the Office of Emergency Management, Coordinator Randall Berry taught students how the 911 system operates. Students were also able to observe dispatchers taking calls and see firsthand the critical role they play in emergency response.
At the MEMS station, Paramedic Montel introduced students to equipment used by emergency medical professionals. Students learned how to operate a powered stretcher, saw a demonstration of a cardiac monitor, and explored other tools used in emergency medical care.
What a great opportunity for our students to explore potential careers while learning from the professionals who serve and protect our community every day!
A huge thank you to the Sheridan Fire Department, Grant County Rescue, Office of Emergency Management, and MEMS for investing your time in our students and providing such meaningful, hands-on experiences.

It was an unforgettable full-circle moment for our SHS JAG program as we welcomed back 2024 graduate and JAG alum Gavin Vaughn! Gavin spoke to current students about his career with the Pine Bluff Fire Department, sharing how he achieved the goal he set while sitting in their exact seats just a few years ago. We are so proud of Gavin’s dedication and grateful for his time in giving back to the JAG program and students! 🔥

This past weekend, the Sheridan High School Cross Country Team competed in the 2026 Falcon Invitational at Maumelle Charter High School, and our Jackets had a great showing!
6th place out of 12 teams
Team average: 19:49
Jaxson Andrews led the Jackets with an impressive 5K time of 18:06.06!
On the girls’ side, Jayce Glaze and Peyton Miller had outstanding finishes, placing 11th and 12th out of 115 runners!
We are proud of the hard work these student-athletes are putting in and excited to watch them continue to improve throughout the season.

SHS sophomore and Educational Technology student Jillian Reed, along with her peers, learned how to use Canva to create materials for their future classrooms and gained hands-on experience with laminating their creations. The Educational Technology class, taught by Emily Brooks, is the Level Two course in the Pre-Educator Pathway offered at SHS.

During last week’s internet outage, students in the Sports Medicine Pathway took advantage of the opportunity to practice a valuable hands-on skill—learning how to properly tape ankles!
These students are currently enrolled in Introduction to Health Care, the Level One course in the Sports Medicine Pathway. The course is taught right here at SHS by our athletic trainer, Tiffany Evans.
We love seeing our students gain real-world skills and explore future careers while still in high school!

SHS students have the opportunity to take concurrent credit courses right here on the high school campus, earning both high school and college credit at the same time. These courses can provide significant savings for students and their families by allowing students to earn college hours before graduation.
SHS sophomore George Lachowsky recently achieved an outstanding accomplishment, earning a perfect score of 300 on the Reading ACCUPLACER! The ACCUPLACER is a college placement assessment used to help determine a student’s eligibility for concurrent credit courses.
George is also a first-year student in the Pre-Educator Pathway at SHS. We are proud of George and commend him for this impressive achievement! Go Jackets!

Recently, Sheridan coaches had the opportunity to tour the new UAMS Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine clinic!
Our coaches worked with exercise scientist Megan Hart and physical therapist Cody Moon to learn more about biomechanics and athlete performance using the DARI Motion 3D camera system.
Megan showed our coaches the importance of recognizing differences in movement, strength, and stability and how DARI can identify deficits and help develop individualized exercise programs to address those areas.
We’re grateful for this partnership and the opportunity to continue learning new ways to support our student-athletes.
Just one more way Sheridan and UAMS are working together to help our athletes perform at their best!
