SHS wants to send a huge thank you to everyone who donated non-perishables to our annual food drive sponsored by Student Council and National Honor Society. We were blessed to collect 3,263 cans. We are so thankful to feed our community with all that we have raised.

SHS had a great evening last night at Hispanic Family Night (Noche de Familia). We want to thank everyone who participated. We look forward to getting more families and community members involved at SHS.
Congratulations to Hunter Broadaway for being selected the SHS Staff Member of the Week. Broadaway is passionate about his subject and always willing to help students and teachers. You can go by Mr. Broadaway’s room almost any day after school and find a room full of students building things. Mr. Broadaway ‘Inspires, Empowers, and Serves’ at SHS. Way to go!

Congratulations to Amanda Coleman for winning the first annual SHS Faculty Chili Cook-off!! Her traditional red chili was delicious. We also want to acknowledge the winners in the "other" and homestyle categories -- Beth Vaccaro, Rhonda Grooms, and Denise Carpenter.

SHS JAG students competed at the State Leadership Academy Competitions this week in different competitions related to leadership and employability skills. Congratulations to 2 of the teams for their top placements:
1st - Business Plan
2nd - Creative Decision Making

Congratulations to DeeAnn Daniel for being selected as the SHS Staff Member of the Week! Ms. Daniel sets high expectations and then works to help students meet those expectations. She goes above and beyond to be a positive impact on her students. She supports her fellow teachers and is a real asset to the Sheridan School District. Way to go Ms. Daniel!
The SHS JROTC will have a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. The event will be held at the American Legion B-17 Veterans Memorial Park and is open to the public.

SHS Families - We will have make-up school pictures for grades 9, 10, and 11 on Mon, Nov 14. 9th-11th grade virtual students can also come for school pictures this morning.
SHS is excited to announce we will be hosting a Hispanic Family Night on Thurs., Nov. 17th at 6:00 PM in the SHS Cafeteria. Dinner will be served at 6:00 followed by informational sessions for families, including college admissions and Canvas how-tos. We hope you can join us!

SHS HOSA Officers attended the Fall Leadership Conference yesterday. Students got to tour the New York Institute of Technology and Osteopathic Medical school at ASU in Jonesboro.

Congratulations to Matt Scarbrough for being selected as the SHS Staff Member of the Week! Mr. Scarbrough inspires not only his coaching staff and student-athletes to give their all, but all of our students and staff. He is always in the stands, on the sidelines, and even in the classroom showing his support. Mr. Scarbrough is the model of service to this district. If it involves celebrating students, he is all in. He is a huge advocate for all students!

SHS is excited to announce Aaron Webb & Randi Scarbrough were named the high school winners for the National Heisman High School Scholarship! These student-athletes were nominated by coaches & selected by the state committee. They will also be considered for the state award.
SHS Students in Mrs. Lewis's AP US History class took on the roles of state delegates and debated key issues of the Constitutional Convention! Prior to today, students researched and prepared arguments based on the stance of their delegates. Everyone did a great job!
