Sydney researched her topic extensively using scholarly databases, wrote a thesis, process paper, and gathered primary sources to showcase her topic on the website she created entirely on her own! She will receive a cash prize for her 3rd place win! We are elated and extremely proud of Sydney's success!


EEM - It's grade check Thursday, please invest a few minutes to review and discuss your child's academic progress this 4th quarter (see Canvas). Let's avoid end of semester surprises. All learners needing extra help or who need a quiet space to work are encouraged to come on campus 8 - 12 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all learners.

Virtual Learners: NWEA Testing is next week. However, we are inviting you to begin your testing tomorrow (April 30) to help you spread out testing instead of taking all tests (Reading, Math, and Science) on a single day (May 7). This is required *growth* testing for ALL students. It is an untimed adaptive assessment. Parents, students may ride the bus or be dropped off beginning at 7:30 a.m. Testing will begin promptly at 8:05 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Ms. Walker, Career Development teacher, virtually hosted John Fetherston with Energy Efficiency Arkansas. Classes learned about energy efficiency as well as jobs in the growing energy industry. https://energyefficiencyarkansas.org/. Getting learners college and career ready!

EEM - 4th quarter interim reports were sent home with learners today, please review them with your learner tonight (all others will be mailed this week). Also, please remind your learner to wear their house shirt tomorrow to compete in some friendly competitions for house points. Accordia is currently in the lead!

EEM - Mrs. Teague's 7th-grade Accelerated Science classes dissected frogs after learning about the different organ systems that work together to maintain homeostasis. Onsite students completed the dissection in class over the course of two days and virtual students were able to come onsite to complete the dissection on virtual Friday. Students were able to identify the organs in which they learned about and discuss the functions of these organs. They were so excited to be able to dissect this year and their lab reflections show they learned a lot!



EEM - Students in Mrs. Otten's art class critiqued their classmate's art as they filled out their predictions on their Art Madness Brackets. After making their predictions, students will go head to head in the Art Madness Tournament where students will vote on their favorite art works. The student that wins will be featured in the morning announcements!




EEM - Please help us keep our learners hydrated by reminding them to bring a refillable water bottle every day. Also, please mark your calendars for next week (May 3-7): Spring NWEA Testing (let's celebrate our learners' academic growth) and Teacher Appreciation Week (help us express gratitude for our teacher team).

EEM - Students in Mrs. Goode's Tools for Learning class are discovering what it takes for them to reach their adult and career goals. They are investigating the necessary soft skills for their dream occupations and exploring the reasonable house, utilities, and vehicle payments with the average salary they could expect.



EEM - The brain loves a good story and will remember it. Mrs. Williams's students are using this knowledge to demonstrate their understanding of Natural Selection and Artificial Selection. The are creating rebus stories (stories using pictures in the place of words).



Congratulations to Veritas for earning back the House Spirit Stick! Remind your learner that tomorrow is House Spirit Day. Encourage them to wear their wear their house shirt to be eligible to participate in some friendly competitions for House Points.

EEM - Last Thursday, Mrs. Vance's class had their culminating activity for their Table Manners unit in Daily Living. For several weeks they talked about proper table manners and how to set a table. On April 8th they set the table for their feast and then cooked their lunch. They had English Muffin pizzas, fruit and yogurt parfaits, lemonade and a cookie for dessert. All the students did a wonderful job setting the table, cooking and showing wonderful table manners while they ate!




EEM - Students in Mrs. Threet's 6th grade reading class enjoyed a review game based on the classic game Jeopardy. Students put their knowledge to the test while working collaboratively with groups to compete against classmates to test all of their knowledge gained this year. Our students are ready to crush the ACT Aspire this week!



Reminder: Please remind your learner to bring a charged device and charger for ACT Aspire testing each day this week. Tuesday, April 13: English & Science | Wednesday, April 14: Reading & Writing | Thursday, April 15: Math | Friday, April 16: ACT Aspire for VIRTUAL LEARNERS: Reading and Math. Also, encourage them to get a good night's rest and eat a healthy breakfast.

EEM Virtual Learners - ACT Aspire testing for English, Science, and Writing is tomorrow, Friday, April 9th. We look forward to seeing *ALL* our virtual learners on campus by no later than 7:45 a.m. Testing begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. Students may arrive starting at 7:30 a.m. - breakfast and lunch will be provided. Encourage your learner to get a good night's sleep and come ready to demonstrate their learning! The second day of testing for virtual learners will be Friday, April 16th: Reading and Math.

EEM - Mrs. Williams's class calculated the time it takes to climb the stairs and walk a predetermined distance in the parking lot. They used their mass and their average time to calculate how much work and power it takes their body to complete both of these task!





EEM - Ms. Bonner's 8th grade math learners were hunting for solutions to literal equations. It is a joy to see them learning and working together!
