Congratulations to Mr. Phil Wesson for being named the SHS Staff Member of the Week! Mr. Wesson's energy and enthusiasm for math, school, and life in general is shared with students and staff alike. Way to go Mr. Wesson!

Mr. Carpenter’s Technology for Integration Manufacturing students designed, created, & laser-engraved their own products. They also met with the YJ Store Entrepreneurship Class to show their proposed ideas of potential items that can be laser engraved and sold in the YJ Store!





SHS - Congratulations to the Yellowjacket Band on earning all First Division Superior ratings at last night's regional marching competition. This qualifies them to compete at state on November 2nd at War Memorial Stadium. Way to go Band!

SHS Seniors -If you have not already done so, please complete and submit your College Application(s) by the end of this month. In addition, you need to complete and submit your financial aid applications that include the FAFSA and the YOUniversal (Arkansas Lottery Scholarships). Keep in mind that many colleges & universities are using November 15th as the "priority" date to award some scholarships. If you need assistance with your college and/or career planning activities, please see Mr. Lamartiniere in the Counseling Center.

SHS - It's National School Lunch Week. SHS wants to send a huge THANK YOU to our cafeteria staff for all they do to feed our students and faculty!



SHS - Mrs. Summer Williams, district GT/AP Coordinator, came to present a lesson about commas to Mrs. Bradley's Pre-AP English class. This lesson helps prepare students for what makes up approximately 15% of the ACT.


SHS Drama is presenting the radio play "Twisted Tales of Poe" on Oct 23, 24, 28, and 31. Presale tickets only--see a cast member.


SHS Theatre department is preparing for their performance of a radio play titled "Twisted Tales of Poe" in which a wind machine is needed. Mr. Broadaway's CIM class accepted the challenge and delivered! Foley art is truly a great combination of engineering and art.

SHS - Congratulations to Summer Carothers and Lea Ellison Phelps on their livestock awards during the Arkansas Youth Expo October 3rd - 6th in Fayetteville. Carothers won 4 awards for her goat & hog. Phelps won 7 awards for her cattle. Way to go girls!



SHS - Congratulations to Laura Brown on being named the SHS Staff Member of the Week! She works hard for her students and is always willing to help her colleagues. She helps make the SHS faculty and staff a family. We send a huge thank you to Ms. Brown!

SHS - Mrs. Rich’s Life and Fitness Nutrition class recently made stuffed bell peppers. The bell peppers were donated by Mrs. Whitaker’s first grade class from their garden at SES. This was a great collaboration and opportunity for all students involved.
